The Bluegrass Situation premieres "The Mission is on Fire" video

I wrote and recorded the song “The Mission Is on Fire” about a series of fires in my neighborhood, the Mission District of San Francisco. I work at a local music club (the Makeout Room), and so I’ve come to know the neighborhood and its residents pretty well.

“The Mission Is On Fire“ was produced by Mike Coykendall and mixed by Scott Hirsch. Myself, Rusty Miller and Mike Coykendall played on the track, with a power assist from Mike Brenner on various lap steel guitars.

The video was shot and directed by Bill Shupp, Thanks to Justin Gallager for the video footage of the Mission/29th Street fire in San Francisco, and to Amy Morris Gibbs, Brendan Hagarty, Doug Hilsinger, and Bob Reed for their photos of the fire at Mission and 22nd Street. Thanks also to Brett Crockett for the Brisbane view and

Glide Magazine previews the title track to "24th Street Blues"

Today Glide is excited to premiere the album’s title track, an impressive work of quiet and ponderous folk-rock filled with the kind of vivid, literary imagery that would make Prine smile. With his soft-spoken vocals, Heyman offers a snapshot of a changing city that is one of the most on-the-street portrayals of a beautiful city that is often in the news these days for all of the wrong reasons. Heyman’s dreamy tune examines the powers of change, decay, nostalgia and growth while taking the listener right onto the street in a way that is so poignant you can practically hear the traffic and feel the shiver of the fog of the bay creeping in on a dark night. Heyman has long been one of our great underrated songwriters and musicians, and this titular track only further solidifies his status as a master lyricist.

Very rare East Coast full band shows in October

I am extremely psyched to be doing a run of shows in NY, NJ and Rhode Island with my pal Jay Sherman Godfrey’s excellent boogie rock power trio, Wire Troop. If you haven’t heard them, do yourself a favor and check out their record “Trio Power” here https://wiretroop.bandcamp.com It ticks all of the boxes for me from Mickey Jupp to Jimmy Rodgers! I have known Jay for close to 30 years and I am really glad that he and his gang are gonna properly help me bring the songs on Show Business , Baby to a bar room near you. See you there.
